The Spartans kick off the 2008 season at home to the Colchester Gladiators this Sunday, the 18th May @ 2.30pm.

The Spartans have had to wait until week 6 of the regular season for their first game and now face 5 games in a row, a good performance is required to help build momentum for an assault on the Division 2 title this year. The Gladiators have lost 2 in a row, including last weekends heavy loss to the London Cobras, and will fight hard to reverse their fortunes this week.

The 2 Essex based teams haven't been in the same Conference since the 2005 season where honours ended even, with a win each and a draw. A tough game on both sides of the ball is guaranteed!

Team Manager Tony Palmer is upbeat:
"Coach Barham and his team have worked hard and the players are full on for this season! It's nice to see the old squad return and also I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the new players to our ranks. I wish the team good luck for this week and the coming season!"

Spartans should get to the practice ground ready for an 10am start.
